The Boston Public Library allows any resident of Massachusetts (including college students from out-of-state) to get a library card. You don’t need to worry about driving the 25 miles into Boston, though, you can sign up for your card online and enjoy immediate access to many wonderful things. Simply visit the BPL’s website to sign up for your card, and within minutes you will be ready to access all the library has to offer. In addition to research databases and newspapers, you will have full access to the extensive e-book and audiobook collection through Overdrive. Hoopla is a downloadable app that gives you streaming movies, music and television shows in addition to even more eBooks and audiobooks. RBdigital allows you to read new issues of popular magazines such as Glamour, Newsweek, Wired, and Billboard. Lynda.com is an online training service with classes on everything from photoshop and Excel to Project management and game design. You can also check books out from the BPL, just stop in at the nearest branch with proof of residency to upgrade to a full library card.
