TOWN HALL Update
SGA-Sponsored Town Hall

Purpose of the Town Hall: To update the student population on campus happenings and provide a forum for students to directly communicate with faculty members (We had over 40 faculty members in attendance…INCLUDING PRESIDENT FATHER JOHN DENNING!)
The Executive Board decided to break up the forum into four categories:
1. Catholic Identity
2. Information Technology
4. Strategic and Long-Term Planning
Catholic Identity: We heard from Fr. Jim Lies who discussed the core values of Stonehill’s Catholic Identity and the desire by many students to have more inter-faith dialogue and a space to do so. He stated, “We’re all in this together.”
Information Technology: We heard from Chief IT Officer Tammy Anderson about Stonehill’s new mobile app! Will be out by late October and includes calendars, directory of students and faculty (searchable in one location), Hill Dollars vendors, laundry view, Skyhawks app, courses with rosters, grades, and holds
Academics: We heard from Maria Curtin (Dean of the Faculty) and Joe Favazza (Vice President for Academic Affairs) who discussed the new learning management system, the online course evaluation implementation this year, and how it is possible to have two minors at Stonehill! One disciplinary and one interdisciplinary!
Strategic Planning: We heard from Assistant Vice President for Budgeting and Planning Steve Beauregard who introduced “Light and Hope for Tomorrow,” the long-term plan for 2025 and discussed the institution’s spending and plans for the immediate and long-term future. Sandy Kenney, Interim Director for Marketing, introduced the Lux Et Spes new visual mark for the college!
Steve Beauregard answered the question, “How are student’s tuition dollars used to fund the college’s operations?”
To begin, Stonehill College spent $93.5 million dollars as an institution last year!
Top Five categories of spending:
1. Compensation (Salary and benefits for faculty: 57% of spending last year)
2. Meal Plans (5% of spending last year)
3. Services and Software Costs (Audit fees/Shuttle/Waste Removal/etc. about 5% of spending last year)
4. Semester Long Off Campus Programs (Internships, study abroad, etc. About 5% of spending last year)
5. Energy (Oil, Gas, Electricity, Water: 4% of our spending last year)
About 3.5 million dollars was spent on all of facilities at Stonehill last fiscal year!
Also, in about two weeks (End of October, Beginning of November) a crosswalk will be installed by Facilities Management between the Sports Complex and Martin Institute!
